     Untitled Snapshots

SNAPSHOTS capture everyday occasions, taken by amateur photographers with simple point-and-shoot cameras. Snapshots often commemorate something that is private and personal; In the days before social media and digital cameras, snapshots were created for a personal audience. They weren’t usually seen outside of the photographer’s home, and more often than not, they were stored away in a closet soon after being developed.

Barbini has spent over 15 years collecting these intimate and forgotten images. Symbols that take on and shed meaning over time. The resulting assemblages cause the viewer to give traditional photos of ojects, home, and family new importance and, perhaps, new meaning.
