I’ve collected old photos since I could remember. It’s a combination of a love for photography, a love for the image, a facination with the history or the weight of a hand.
There is a universal grammar, language and history, of seeing and creating images. I am interested in how we create this meaning, and how we decide what images are worth looking at.
I use found snapshot photography - paint them, dye them, and modify them, to create something modern and playful. Sometimes this means creating a new fictional narrative or preserving the history and culture of a place.
I call the series "Signs of America Life", though it's constantly evolving.
